Specifically the powder spiced scent brings me back between the pages of December ’92 Harper’s  Bazaar, a Kate Moss clad Christmas cover. The issue contained a pull out sample of Joop! which is almost identical to powder spiced fragrance by Wolfgang Joop!

Strange how our nose can travel in time, where fashion seeks to redefine it.

Claus (pronounced Kl-owess) was a Danish fashion photographer 1st assistant and lived in that weird traingle building across from 5 Leaves at Manhatten and Bedford avenues in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. He  was a very wiry, unique little fellow who could talk to anyone about anything. I had originally met him at Passer By in Chelsea about 4 years ago. I remember when I asked where his accent originated as we stood outside smoking a cigarette, Claus told me that dogs weren’t the only Great Danes to come out of Denmark. Having a weakness for perverted humour, plucky with and Vodka Sodas, I agreed to a date.

I learned many interesting facts from Claus, who yes managed to reference his lap to Santa Claus’ during those warm summer months.

Back in Copenhagen, Claus had been an amateur car thief.  Having grown up in the city,  he had connections to which he could sell off his inventory. Countless Lamborghinis, Porches, BMWs and Mercedes all had fell victim to the Great Dane in the early 90′s.

His three tools:  A small allen wrench, a thin sharp shank and a tennis ball.

He would drill a large hole in the tennis ball, walk up to a car, lean his back against the driver door and cover the lock with the hole of the tennis ball. Then he would punch the tennis ball creating an air vacuum, sucking an incredible flow of air through the key hole and unlocking the door, overcoming the car’s alarm.  Once inside, Claus would start the engine by wedging the shank and allen wrench into the ignition.

Things didn’t work out with me and Claus as Great Danes aren’t the only dogs to come out of Denmark.

The 13 page editorial spread reflects an incredible immortal energy and rivals that of Peter Beard+ Iman, Demarchelier + Christie Brinkley and Kate Moss + CK ads.  I believe this editorial will go down in the books (and blogs) and mark start of the new fashion era, likely to rise in 2012 and sparked by the world tough times. Get tough, go lean and stay chic! I’m buying a copy and keeping it in a box!

When I’m not sure what I am looking for on etsy.com,  I tend to write a material and color combination into the keyword search bar and view whatever randomly surprises me. After searching for “white leather’ this great handmade in Mexico line of shoes appeared in my path.  With an unbelievable selection of colors. RAINBOW In the SNOW

I must start with a few season appropriate looks  first since it’s November 14th and I live in  the heart of amidwestern gulf stream! There are 2 looks from Giambattista Valli I would buy just to wear with these pumps I love look # 32, fall’11 which is a bright pink and red color blocked knit  lil’ frock. The pink would burst in contrast to the primary hue. To top it off, or rather bottom it out, I turn to a pair of  burgundy opaque tights, borrowing yet another shade from the upper tier of the rainbow.

 The next look for Giambattista Valli would be the monochromatic grey wool high-rise pant and sleeveless top, under which I would wear a cobalt l/s shirt to extract  the shoe’s platform. So contrasting and “militant” the outfit would, what I call ‘HERO’ the shoe, as they would literally shine in the spotlight with every step I make! 

HOT ‘TROPIC’

For another look, I would pay homage to the  Fiorucci Fantasy/Antonio Lopez  and disco DNA about which these pumps inspire me to dream.  I’d wear my aqua banded super tight Herve Leger mini skirt over a mint and ferris wheel printed We Are Handsome designed zip up swim Maillot. With these vivid colored suede pumps, I’d be well suited for any beach party during a the resort season …to wane off the cool breeze  I’d wear a floral Hawaiian printed blouse, roll up its sleeves and tie the shirt tails, for a cropped look. Accessory besides the shoes? A Bellini and a tan, oiled up Brazilian hottie on my arm.

NIGHT VISION

For a Black Tie Affair…I’d wear these stilettos with Bottega Venata’s Spring 12 Look #38- A Long Chiffon dramatic purple rapture gown, with spaghetti straps and V neckline…accessorized with gold bangles. To bring it together? I’d paint my nails with Chanel’s Mimosa Yellow laquer and carry a little yellow clutch (that happens to have a gold clasp in shape of a pineapple!) Giving a nod to the shoe’s tropical palette! These shoes deserve to step all over a rooftop at midnight and maybe strut the walk of shame in the AM

I generally avoid temptation unless I can’t resist it.
